Hi Dave i brought the Firemove 100 2 months ago and i can honestly say its the best board i have sailed in thirty years of windsurfing Grahame

    • Dave says:

      Hi Grahame,
Stoked you love the board, though I do have one complaint about, it makes me sail for too long. The last session I just could’t bring myself to stop and only ended up with the first blister on my hands I had in years, but my wife was so pissed my dinner ended up in the dog… that said it was worth it

      Hi Grahame

I have not been windsurfing for 15 years apart from holidays, keen on getting back into it (can water start etc)- I weigh in at 76kilos, do you reckon the 100 or the 110 would be best? Aiming at sailing mostly at Mudeford in the harbour and off Avon beach? Cheers for any advice. Dave

take the 100, with your weight it will be nice

Hi Dave, been watching your test of the 100 Firemove and looks tasty.I’ve got a futura 101 which is great on flat water but in choppy or onshore 2ft mush its a bit of a handfull. How would you compare the Firemove as an alternative to the Futura as i’m looking at an all rounder to take its place.I dont want a freestyle wave but the Firemove looks really interesting.Ta for any advice.Dave

  4. Dave says:

    Hi Dave,
It’s been about a year since I tried the Futura so a direct comparison would’t be fair. That said the 100 firemove has become a travel companion for the very reasons you’ve been looking at it. for me it sits perfectly between my big freestyle wave and freerace/slalom board.

Where I sail we have too many days where the sea state just can’t sort its self out, we’re often left with what can only be described as bump and jump mush. It’s day’s like this I jump on the firemove where I can race around with any boys practicing slalom or join in with those playing around in the shore break (which at Clacton is far too close to the beach).

What I really like is the virtual volume, in the lulls it feels like a bigger board with its extra width, that also helps me up on the plane quickly but once there the super thin rails gives you the smaller feel and manoeuvrability of a smaller board.

    Hope that helps

    Dave

Thanks for your reply Dave. I think its time to sort out the pennies.Ta again for your quick reply.Dave in North Wales.

was on the road and thinking about my answer when i remembered something that confirms my thoughts, I used the Firemove 100 in to very different comps last year. firstly at Weymouth for speed week and then again in Tiree, though the latter was a bit of an emergency as the wind was super light and I didn’t have a big enough wave board, guess coming second say more about its all-round potential than ever could.

pennies well spent i’d say :)

Hi Dave. Thanks again for your second reply.Says it all Eh?Ta from Dave.

    Hi from Italy,
I have a 95 Fanatic freewave and my weight is about 68/70 kg for the summer breezes better firemove 100l or a new sails 6.3?

    The largest sail I have is a 5.3 …

    Ciao!

    F

  9. Dave says:

    Hi Surfab,
A hard choice for sure and the real answer is both. The firemove will be the perfect summer board at your weight (wish I be say the same :) but to really maximise its use I would also go for the bigger sail.

I guess the decision is which one first, think it has to be the boards as a 6.3 wont make a great partner for the 95 freewave while you will be able to get out there earlier on the 100 firemove with your 5.3.

    Hope that helps

    Dave

    Thanks for your reply.

    I’ll buy a FMove 100 ltd ;)

    Hi,

I am a 85 kg intermediate, plane on mistral explosion 142, attempt to gibe. Usually on lakes or coastal conditions once a year for two weeks being on holidays

Do you think change to Firemove now would be a good choice as a one board qiuver? If yes, what size is recommended?

    thanks

  13. Dave white says:

I think you’ll be amazed at the versatility of the firemove, I use it everywhere I go, even when travelling abroad.

On flat water I can blast and race along with everyone but as last week when we had small waves and light wind for a british wave comp I used the Firemove 100, I’m not saying its a wave board but for me the conditions were right for it to help me up the leader board with its early planning.

I’m lucky to have more than one board but if I could only have one it would be a Firemove. Hope that helps

    Dave

    • Wojtek says:

      Dave,

thank for the reply but I doubt if my skills are enough to step on such a small volume from 140 l, 75 cm wide?
What size for 8 sq. m sail as used usually?

      can you comment on it?

      • dave White says:

        Hi Wojtek,
Sorry its been awhile but having just come off the water this evening where we finally has some sea breeze here in the UK, 8m weather and a 130 for me and my son. Though if I’m honest it was less about the sail size and more about the board.

I could use and 8m on all the boards including the 100l but then I need more consistent wind, we took the 130′s today as it was cool cruising weather, no pumping just sit in the harness and enjoy the ride.

Basically, bigger just makes it easier.

        Enjoy the weekend

Greetings from Poland, I am looking at the Firemove E-Tech, I have a question in relation to the volume. My standard rig is the 129 ltd Fanatic Shark with a 7,5 NorthSails Natural, I weigh 89 kg.

I have tried the Firemove 120, and it was great but I am looking at the 110 as a all purpose board (could I use it with 6,5 or 5,5 in high winds?). Should I go for the 110 l or stick to the 120 l. I look forward to your reply,

    Bartek

  15. Dave White says:

    Hi Bartek,
6m is the smallest I’ve sailed the 110 though at 118kg I’m heavier that you, so I guess you’d have been on a smaller sail :)

It’s always hard to give the perfect answer as I don’t know the normal conditions where you sail but my Friend Shaun is roughly the same weight as you and he’s be happy on a 7.5 on the 110 and could well drop below a 6.5 if the wind picked up.

Like I say the perfect answer is hard for me to give and while the Firemove’s increase the sail range the board size you pick still come down to what sail you will use on it the most, I’d say go 120 if you use the 7.5 a lot where you are just planning, or the 110 if you only go out when the wind is strong enough to plane comfortably with the 7.5.

Not sure this video helps answer your questions https://vimeo.com/48763547 but when I first went out I was on a 6.4 on the 100 and hardly floating. the wind picked up and I headed up the coast to a little bay, when I came hack some hours later everyone had dropped to 4.5′s which is kind of the opposite of what you’re thinking about, but it does show you how much the board handles the changing conditions.

    Hope that makes some sense

    regards

    Dave
