This was my first time in Peru. I’ve been wanting to come here for 10 years, since I saw a video that was filmed in Pacasmayo showing an endless waves, pealing down the line for 2 kilometer and with side off shore wind blowing on it.
When I learned that the AWT was organizing an event there, I knew right away that this was the opportunity that I was waiting for.
The competitions just finished and I am stoked to get 2nd place behind Camille Juban. It was a tough battle to get to the final, but the light wind conditions and the long perfect down the line waves is my specialty, so the spot was fitting my style perfectly witch perhaps gave me an advantage.
Miho Tanaka and I came 2 weeks early to Pacasmayo to enjoy the waves and get ready for the event, and that was smart move. Miho got a 2nd place in the woman division and showed great progress in her wave riding.
Here is a quick video that I put together before the contest started, it shows just how long the wave can be in Peru.
We just left Pacasmayo and we are now on our way to Matchu Pitchu for a cultural experience. Everyone that we met here has told us how amazing that place is so we just have to go and check it out for ourselves.
This Peru trip gives me an opportunity to work on a new video episode, and I should have that for you guys shortly.
Gracias,
Fabrice Beaux
